2008 Annual Report
Mat-Su Sea Hawkers Annual Report - 2008
Greetings Mat-Su Sea Hawkers. I take this opportunity to personally thank you for your valued membership and participation in our community minded organization. I will now touch base on some of our accomplishments in this our second year. If you are missing out on game day gatherings at Tailgaters, or any of these community service activities, we sure would like to see more of you. Thus far 2008 has seen Mat-Su Sea Hawkers:
- Achieve 2nd year in the Mat-Su business and volunteer communities- Grown membership from 50 to nearly 100 members
- Build, maintain, and promote a community presence on the World Wide Web at: http://www.mat-su-seahawkers.com/
- Obtained our Federal 501(c)(3) public charity approval and Letter of Determination – Your tax-deductible donations are welcome. (Tax document is available at http://www.mat-su-seahawkers.com/) Youth Specific Contributions:
- Mat-Su Youth Football - Financial Contribution to MYFA, with a promise of annual sponsorship
- Kyle Bolam - Olympic Youth Development Soccer Program – Individual Financial Contribution
- Spring 2009 - Initiating scholarships to each of the four primary public high schools; Houston, Wasilla, Colony, and Palmer
- NFL Punt, Pass, & Kick competition - Membership Volunteers helped operate this youth program - Our donations to the community youth currently comes primarily from annual membership dues and fund-raisers. With our new 501 (c) (3) non-profit tax status, people can make tax-deductible financial contributions to our organization.
Community Contributions:
- Membership participated in Valley Clean Up Day - Wasilla
- Membership participated in Mat-Su: Relay for Life - raising nearly $1200.00 for cancer awareness research
- Organization held 2nd annual free community open house BBQ
- Currently conducting a grass roots level effort to gain technical, financial, and volunteer support to fund, build, and operate a Multi-use sports dome, similar to the new sport dome in Anchorage. Treasurer - Dan Kennedy, is putting together a tentative Anchorage Dome field trip with community, business, and education leaders, which is scheduled for October 28

Final Tally For Our Relay Efforts
Just got the final tally for our Relay For Life fund raising efforts, our team raised $1,006.00 this year and we would like to personally thank all those that donated and/or came out to the event to help out, Tom Spindler, Peggy Spindler, Kiana Harrington, Dianne Kiana, Dan Kennedy, David Kennedy, Rick Allen, Rhys Allen (survivor), Adrian Spindler, Nick Good, Nathanial Good, Jean Campbell (survivor), Paul Campbell , and Jason Davies all contributed to our efforts Thanks to all.
